What is Web 2.0 or Social Marketing?

Web 2.0 represents the evolution of the internet. Nothing ever stays the same and this is true with the internet. Things evolve and change over time and so it is with the web.

The internet is not only about information but it is now about community. It's about people looking for a different type of interaction and relationships and they are finding them on the internet.

You too can learn how to harness the power of web2.0 and social marketing at The Renegade University. It's all about Attraction Marketing.

The birth of blogging has created an avenue for people to  share their feelings, ideas and thoughts. Blogs can be personal or they can be about just about anything you can possibly think of. Sites like Facebook and MySpace have developed into huge communities of "friends" where you can find old friends and make new ones. You can comment on what's happening in the world or to yourself. Youtube has created a phenomenon where now people can send images and videos of themselves, as well as things they love or do and  can share them with the world.

There are literally hundreds of social media sites where people "hang out" and more are being created everyday.

What this means to businesses is now being recognized an extremely powerful way to promote whatever it is you do or sell. This is where people are and this is where you need to go. However, there is a catch. Think of these places as other people's living-rooms. When you interact with them you need to be considerate, polite, thoughtful and remember that when they talk to you ,even in this mode of communication, it is by invitation.  Don't be rude, pushy, or use your sales pitches on them or your world can come tumbling down.

Participate in conversations and add value to the conversation or keep it to yourself. As your communications are read more and more and value is seen as being given, then people will be more interested in the other things that you do and they might click on your links, see your websites and even ask to be part of it with you.

Network Marketers are just beginning to see the writing on the wall and those that do and take action are the ones that will be leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.

Big businesses are even taking note and are looking at ways to tap into this tremendous resource for lead generation and sales.

Social Marketing is about building relationships and Stephen R Covey compares relationships to a bank account. We make deposits and we make withdrawals. Understanding and learning how to make your deposits will ultimately increase your account balance and withdrawals will be so much easier.

You can learn how to harness the power of web2.0 and social marketing at The Renegade University.
